Pastoral
Care
The Pastoral Care Team is committed to
reach out to give loving support to those members and
adherents who can no longer attend church services,
to those who are in hospital or are ill and confined
temporarily to their own homes, and to people experiencing
personal difficulties. Here are some ways we respond
to the needs of the congregation for support:
- Organize transportation, and flowers to those who
have difficulty getting out
- Send seasonal flowers at Christmas and Easter to
seniors in Facilities and not able to get out
- Organize grieving services for the bereaved
- Provide services in care facilities
- Visit congregational and community members
- Arrange for communion in the home for those unable
to get out to church services
- Offer a Healing Touch Program, both at the church
and in hospitals, care homes and individual homes
- Send flowers, cards, or a special gift to those
who are ill, bereaved or going through other types
of trauma in their lives
- Offer Counseling Services and respond to needs of
anyone in hospital or care facility
- Offer monthly seniors' lunches [excluding November,
December and March] at the Church Tickets in
advance ($5.00) are available through the Church office.
Pastoral Care also includes the organization
of Memorial Services and the Teas following the Service
at the Church.
Counselling Services
Professional counselors are available
through the SHUC Pastoral Counseling Centre to help
individuals and households work through issues and problems.
Costs are covered by fee for service arrangements.
